This is a very easy design suitable for even nervous knitters who are just starting out. Using only cast on, knit stitch (with no increasing or decreasing needed) and casting off, this is a lovely way to get hooked on knitting and would make a great pattern for a child or adult who wants to learn a new craft.
To knit these birds, you will need:
A pair of 4mm knitting needles
Chunky yarn in three colours (we use Hayfield Bonus Chunky and King Cole Chunky)
3 pairs of toy safety eyes (9mm) black
Darning needle
Toy stuffing
White cotton
Felt for feet and beaks
3 little ball-shaped bells (optional)
Metal sewing needle
