Each squishy satsuma toy takes only 20g of orange yarn to make and is quick to knit using only knit and purl stitches and simple increasing and decreasing. Satsumas are about 9cm/3.5 inches tall when finished.
You Will Need:
A pair of 3mm straight knitting needles
Yarn: about 20g of orange Dk yarn per satsuma. We used Rico Ricorumi DK (25g ball) colour 069 Terracotta (the muted colour)- you can make one satsuma from this ball of yarn and Drops Muskat Unicolour mercerized cotton colour 49 Dark Orange (the brighter orange)- you should be able to make two satsumas from this ball.
For the leaves we used a small amount of Stylecraft Special Dk Meadow (1065) You can of course substitute any comparable yarns.

Darning needle
A pair of 6mm black toy safety eyes with click-on backs for each satsuma (or you can embroider the eyes, recommended if the toy is for a young child)
