Learn simple colourwork and knit a big squishy Valentine Heart cushion in chunky yarn to brighten up your room.
With lots of photographs to help you on your way, this pattern takes you step-by-step through knitting and making up a colourful heart cushion decorated with contrasting heart motifs. You can choose whether to knit one in Super Chunky yarn on 9mm knitting needles, or Chunky (Aran) weight yarn on 6mm needles- because it’s worked on such large needles each heart knits up satisfyingly fast!
To make this pattern you will need to be able to cast on and off, knit, purl, and work increasing and decreasing stitches (Kfb, K2tog, P2tog). Pattern is seven pages long and contains photos throughout to illustrate the different stages of the colourwork.
Images show the larger hearts knitted from King Cole Big Value Super Chunky in Red and Champagne (first image) and Paintbox Yarns Simply Chunky in Washed Teal and Rowan Big Wool in Cerise (second image). The smaller hearts are knitted from Scheepjes Chunky Monkey in Hot Pink and Punch. You can of course substitute any other same-weight yarns and colours that you like. You’ll also need some toy stuffing and a darning needle.
Big Hearts measure 46cm tall when completed, Small Hearts measure 30cm tall.
