Perfect for cosying up indoors and knitting in the warm.
This new Reindeer knitting pattern is a cute cuddly toy to knit for Christmas. Measuring 41cm (16 inches) tall from the tip of his antlers to the base of his feet, he is worked flat on straight 3mm knitting needles (so NO knitting in the round is needed).
The pattern takes you step-by-step through knitting and making up your reindeer and his cosy dungarees, with lots of illustrations to help you on your way. You’ll need to be able to cast on, cast off, knit, purl, and work increasing and decreasing stitches to complete this pattern.
You can use any double knitting yarn you like to make this toy and his clothes. We used these yarns:
- Just under half a ball of Stylecraft Special DK in Stone (1710) for each reindeer’s main colour
- Very small amount of Red Dk yarn for the nose. We used a sparkly red yarn: King Cole Glitz Dk in Cherry (481)
- Small amount of Grey Dk yarn for the antlers. We used Stylecraft Special Dk in Grey (1099)
- Dk yarn for the dungarees- you’ll need about 40g of your chosen colour. We used King Cole Big Value Tweed Dk in Berry (153) for the red dungarees and Stylecraft Special Dk in Cornish Blue (1841) for the blue ones
- Small amount of Dk yarn for the scarves. We used about 7g of Wendy Peter Pan Dk in Star (PD18) for the yellow and Wendy Peter Pan Dk in Spring Leaf for the green
You’ll also need:
- A spare double-pointed knitting needle to hold stitches
- Darning needle
- Toy stuffing
- A pair of 6mm black safety eyes with click-on backs OR you can embroider the eyes with black Dk yarn as shown
Please note this is a downloadable pattern and not a kit. Once purchased, your PDF pattern will be instantly emailed to you so you can get knitting!
