New for Spring knitting- a cute Easter Bunny in a soft spotty dress and cardigan.
Made using a ball of chunky yarn, with some Dk yarn for the clothes, she can hold a knitted carrot in her hand and makes a lovely Easter present! Bunny is 46cm tall from feet to ear tips, so the perfect size for children to hug.
This pattern is suitable for knitters who can cast on and off, work knit stitch, purl stitch and increase/decrease. The spotty dress is a nice clear introduction to simple colourwork knitting with lots of photographs to help you step-by-step through the process, so even if you’ve never tried colourwork before you’ll be able to knit these patterns with ease. The bunny and clothes are all knitted flat so no knitting in the round is needed.
You will need:
- Chunky yarn of your choice for the bunny itself. We used one ball of Stylecraft Special Chunky in Camel (1420) for the brown bunny and a ball of Silver (1203) for the grey bunny
- Two colours of Dk yarn for each dress. For the pink dress we used: Wendy Peter Pan Dk in Petal (PD19) and Blossom (PD05). For the blue and purple dress we used: Wendy Peter Pan DK in Lagoon (PD21) and Sugar Plum (PD16)
You’ll also need Dk yarn for the cardigan. We used Wendy Peter Pan DK in Spring Leaf (PD20) and Star (PD18)
you can of course use any other double knitting yarns instead.
- 4.5mm straight knitting needles for knitting the bunny and long 4mm straight knitting needles for knitting the clothes
- A length of Black Dk yarn for the nose
- A stitch holder or spare knitting needle
- Toy stuffing
- Darning needle
- A pair of 9mm black toy safety eyes with click on backs- or you can embroider the eyes if she’s being made for a young child.
