Knitted in the softest, fluffiest yarn these Easter ducklings are perfect to make as gifts.
Are you looking for a project to knit for Easter? This cute pattern knits up quickly and the recommended yarn is lovely to work with. Knitted flat on 4mm straight knitting needles, there is no working in the round needed. You’ll only need to know how to knit, purl and work increasing and decreasing stitches to make these toys, so they are suitable for all knitters. The pattern takes you step-by-step through knitting and making up your duckling.
Recommended yarns for this pattern: For the white duckling (on the right of the photo) we used a ball of Wendy Peter Pan Precious Chunky in Duckling 3431 (the fluffy white colour) with a small amount of Wendy Peter Pan Dk in Star PD18 for the beak and legs. Pink scarf is knitted from a very small amount of Wendy Peter Pan DK in Coral PD19
For the yellow duckling (on the left) we used a ball of Wendy Peter Pan Precious Chunky in Chick 3436 (the fluffy yellow colour) with a small amount of Stylecraft Bambino Dk in Mellow Yellow 3942 for the beak and legs. Blue scarf is knitted from a very small amount of Wendy Peter Pan DK in Mermaid PD21. You can of course substitute any comparable yarns.
You’ll also need: a pair of 4mm straight knitting needles, Toy stuffing, Darning needle, A pair of 9mm black toy safety eyes with click-on backs for each duckling (or you can embroider the eyes, recommended if the toy is for a young child)
The finished duckling toys measure 31cm (12.2 inches) tall from top of head to tip of toes so are perfect for small hands to hold.
